Unanticipated Difficulties
We knew things were going to be tough upon Grandma getting home, but I'm sure either one of us were expecting just how difficult things were going to be. It hasn't even been a single night and already we're starting to realize the magnitude of Grandma's condition. It's basically to the point now that she needs help getting up, hard-assistance walking and the whole lot. The idea of her becoming independant to the point that she could prepare her own meals is completely out the window. She can't stand on her own feet without someone spotting her, so to ask much else of her is only asking for disaster. It's so sad to see Grandma in this condition. Seeing someone as proud as she is, not be able to put one foot in front of the other, and sigh in discontent is really, truly disheartening.
I can only keep my fingers crossed and hope that lady calls me from Woodman's. I do not want to leave my current job, but leaving Grandma here by herself is a legitimate death sentence.
